Exotica Explored

The Taj Exotica, located in the Maldives is an island no visitor could ever forget. Recently a journalist with the Hindu explored this private island paradise and here is what they had to say. We are welcomed with tender coconut water by the friendly staff before our private butler drives us to our villas and we realise that from one side of the island you can see the other, just a few feet away. And then it hits you that you are stranded on a narrow patch of land, with the man-made Water Villas arranged around a bell-shaped wooden pathway over the lagoon. It looks like a colony built over water and the huge swimming pool in the middle is the ocean with harmless sharks and assorted fish swimming around.

Private Island, With a Bridge!

There are plenty of islands on the market right now, but Bart Island might be the most desirable of the bunch. Offering all the sanctuary of a private island, this one acre retreat is actually connected to the mainland by a 180 ft by 4 ft steel walkway bridge. A great feature for transporting materials to your island!! A main house with guest quarters is located on the front side of the island.

Peddal Powered Submarine!

Looking for a way to explore your Private Island, but tired of doing it above the waves. A team of French engineers, the world has the pedal-powered submarine. The mini-sub, nicknamed the Scubster is entirely human-powered. The Scrubster is designed so that the ‘driver’ only has to pedal to propel it underwater. The craft features a pedal belt connected to a twin-propeller system that, depending on the fitness of the driver, can reach speeds of up to 8km an hour (5mph).

Tinker Island

I just came across this great island on Private Islands Online that I thought I would share with you all. Located in Maine Tinker Island is an arable and accessible island located near Blue Hill Maine. The offering includes the southern half of Tinker Island, with 200± acres of varied fields and forest, and approximately two and one-half miles of beautiful sand, gravel and cobble beaches. The northern end of Tinker Island, owned by Maine Coast Heritage Trust, has been preserved as forever wild. A very attractive three-bedroom residence, large barn, boathouse, dock and a freshwater pond stocked with trout is located on the property

Life in Paradise

Tania Pampalone a journalist with the Mail and Guardian recently visited the island nation of the Seychelles. Here is what she had to say. This is how you arrive on Denis Island: after bouncing through the air for 25 minutes on an Air Seychelles 19-seater De Havilland Twin Otter Series 300 with a no-smoking sign, a no-cellphone sign, a barf bag and emergency procedures with helpful instructions such as “remain calm” in the seat pocket in front of you, the inky water will finally turn turquoise and a 900m grass landing strip will appear on a blink of an island circled in white sand. Despite this rough start Ms Pampalone  soon discovers that getting there is half the  adventure.  You will arrive at a Bali-style outdoor pavilion with oversized lounge seats and chandeliers fashioned out of whitewashed branches and will be presented with a mango coconut frappé in a cocktail glass. By this time you will have realised that you have found paradise Like I have said many times before, there is nothing like a private island vacation.
