One of the most exciting islands I have seen in a long time showed up in my inbox the other day. I talk a lot about paradise on this blog, and truthfully most of the islands I post about are little pieces of paradise. However, Savage Jungle is the closest thing to The Garden of Eden I think I have ever seen. At 1,325 acres Savage Jungly does not represent the entire island rather a piece of the island, with the remainder being a national park
There is a lot of buzz being generated down under and it’s all coming from Hayman Island. The beautiful sub-tropic island resort is advantageously located on Australia’s world famous great barrier reef. The resort simply known as Hayman is the only resort on the island and is known for catering to well-heeled travellers. It was recently announced that Hayman has developed a number of exclusive private beach villas, which will boast dedicated butlers and rent for $1,350 per night.
By Ayelet Tsabari South African couple, Wayne Rumble and Laureth Craggs bought Pumpkin Island in Australia’s Keppel Islands in 2003. Drawn to the area by the surrounding waters’ fantastic fishing and the desire to have a tropical hideaway for family get-togethers, they fell head over heels when they first saw this pristine private island in Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Today, Wayne and Laureth still live on the idyllic island and their charming resort — perhaps the ultimate home business — offers five comfortable beach cottages at the ocean’s edge. Cottages are self-contained and eco-friendly, powered by wind and sun. Each has its own private bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and large deck with BBQ and sunset views
With many world economies surging and the American greenback slumping, many people around the world are seeing greater value for their money when it comes to luxury vacation destinations. An online article recently published out of Australia notes that favourable exchange rates have expanded their jet-setting horizons to a level previously only experienced through the pages of glossy travel magazines. The article goes onto highlight a number of private island resorts such as Lizard Island Resort in far north Queensland

A couple of day’s ago I posted an article by journalist Jason Carr about his weeklong trip to Litlle Deadman’s Cay in the Bahamas ( read it here ). After posting the article I got a couple of e-mails asking for more information about the island. Little Deadman’s Cay is an impressive 9.5 acre island located near Long Island Bahamas.
This protected heritage site, originally built by King Christian IX in 1890 as a fortress for coastal defense, has been impressively restored in recent years.

Featuring a gorgeous lowcountry home, causeway and dock, this 7.5-acre dream property is a flyfishing paradise, just 5 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean.
Renting an island is one of the best ways to “test drive” what island ownership is really like. It’s also an excellent way to relax and unwind for the stressors of everyday life. Recently David Carr wrote an article for the New York Times about his private island getaway with his wife in the Bahams. Carr chose one of the more extreme forms of private island travel opting to travel to a complely private island, as opposed to a private island resort
