Lake Glenville, one of the treasures of North Carolina’s Southern Blue Ridge Mountains, is a pristine mountain lake that sits on the Highlands/Cashiers Plateau at an elevation of 3542 feet. The lake is the highest manmade lake east of the Mississippi, created in 1941 when a dam was constructed on the Tuckasegee River, flooding the entire valley north of the town of Cashiers. First settled in 1827 and known as Hamburg Township, the original town of Glenville now sits at the bottom of a lake that reaches depths of 300 feet. With 26 miles of winding shoreline and a surface area of 1500 acres, the lake is a paradise for boaters, fishing enthusiasts, kayakers, and water-skiers. The lake offers an abundance of trout, walleye, bass, and catfish
