Richard Branson’s Island Reopens Following Fire!
Necker island has reportedly reopened following a fire on August 22 nd which destroyed the eight bedroom Great House. It was reported that Kate Winslet was staying on the island at the time and actually assisted in the rescue of Branson’s elderly mother from the main residence. Following the reopening, guests will have use of six newly refurbished Bali Houses. Temple House, Branson’s private home, will also be on offer alongside his 105-foot Necker Belle catamaran. Branson plans to rebuild the Great House in the same Balinese style with views of the Caribbean, although he promised several “innovative twists.” The fire was triggered by a lightning strike during Hurricane Irene.

Like other high end hotel chains around the world, Four Seasons resorts has been expanding its holdings to include a number of private islands around the world. Four Seasons recently developed a Robinson Crusoe experience in purchasing a private island near their five star resort in Langkawi. Guests of Four Seasons Resort Langkawi can slip away to their very own secret island, where they will be “marooned” in Four Seasons style
How the Billionaire Vacations
Now that the recession is over the world’s wealthiest individuals are once again starting to indulge in luxurios vacations and according to Fox business news the destination that is at the top of their list are Private Islands. Here is what Fox News had to say. According to the American Affluence Research Center, 35% of America’s wealthiest households plan to spend more on domestic vacations this year, and 31% plan to spend more on vacations abroad. Clinton’s Vacation on Private Island

The Turks and Caicos weekly news is reporting that formed US president Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are vacationing on the exlusive Parrot Cay with the Clinton’s daughter Chelsea and her husband Marc Mezvinsky. Accoridng to the report the family spent six days at fashion designer Donna Karan’s luxury four bedroom villa, where they enjoyed 360-degree ocean views and personal chef and butler service. There is a lot of buzz being generated down under and it’s all coming from Hayman Island.
